Top Rangers prospect Jurickson Profar needed a few games to adjust to the demands of Double-A pitching. Now comfortable in his new surroundings, he hasn't stopped hitting.

Ranked No. 6 on MLB.com's list of Top 100 prospects, Profar extended his hitting streak to a Texas League-leading 18 games in the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders' 4-2 victory over the Midland RockHounds on Monday.

The 19-year-old native of Curacao is batting .261 with 12 RBIs in 29 contests, including going 21-for-75 (.280) since his hitting streak began April 19. Before that, he was batting .200 with three extra-base hits and four RBIs. Profar also has reached base safely in his last 27 games.

Profar struck out in the first inning and walked in the third, before keeping the streak alive with an RBI double to center field off Midland starter A.J. Griffin (3-1) in the fifth frame. Profar's seventh double of the year plated Engel Beltre -- who had led off the inning with a two-bagger of his own to right field -- to snap a 1-1 tie.

The switch-hitter, known for his outstanding arm, plus defense and solid baseball fundamentals as much as his skills with the bat, had a chance to record his seventh multi-hit outing in the seventh, but he flew out to center field against Ross Wolf.

Signed by the Rangers as a non-drafted free agent in 2009, Profar is in his third year of professional baseball. He hit .250 with four homers and 23 RBIs in 63 short-season games with Spokane in 2010, and he batted .286 with 12 homers, 57 extra-base hits and 65 RBIs for Class A Advanced Hickory last season.

On Monday, Justin Grimm (6-1) allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out five batters over six innings, and Johan Yan recorded his league-best eighth save of the year despite surrendering a run on a pair of hits in the ninth. Left fielder Ryan Strausborger was 2-for-4 with his second homer of the year, and catcher Zach Zaneski added two hits and an RBI in the victory.
